PROBLEM

Wopet is in need of a re-vamping

User interviews revealed these pain points about the existing Wopet app:

  1. Hard to navigate

  2. Lack of personalization

  3. Looks untrustworthy

  4. Visually unappealing

GOALS

Improve usability & design

  1. Create intuitive pathways

  2. Reorganize user priorities

  3. Increase trustworthiness

  4. Change color pallet

SOLUTION

Wopet 2.0

The Wopet redesign prioritized the user's concern for trust in the app. Because an automatic pet feeder is being put in charge of beloved pets, users need to be sure it’s fulfilling its tasks. In addition to new features, Wopet received a makeover to appear more professional and indicate competency— putting the user’s mind at ease.

Main improvements:

  • New color palette

  • Re-organization of existing features

  • Automatic recording of scheduled feedings

  • “Feed Manually” function

  • New camera features

  • Option to save recorded content

  • Auto-recorded feedings

  • Quick access to camera + food log

  • Manual feed option

  • Allows users to reach most features in only a few clicks

  • Option to feed pet manually

  • Reorganized menu bar for quick access to the camera and feeding schedule

  • Screen personalization

Camera & Saved Content

  • Ability to check up on pet at any time

  • Automatic video of each feed

  • New camera functions include the ability to:

    • Snap a picture and record a video

    • Talk to pet through microphone

    • Manually feed

Feeding Plan

  • More personalization of feeding times

  • Ability to plan ahead and adjust feeding times and amount of each day

  • Feeding portions listed in cups rather than the previously listed ambiguity of “portions”

Future Steps

I’d love to explore adding the following features to this project:

  • Suggested food portions based on information about pet

  • Option to personalize color scheme

  • Animation graphics
